Police responded to a report of an attack inside a home at 22 Doane Road just after 9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, Medford Police report. A caller told police that one of the residents was just attacked by another resident and the assault moved to the outside of the home.

Investigators learned that Jace Cherchi allegedly pulled one woman into the front yard, pushed her to the ground and stabbed her multiple times. Her injuries were non-life-threatening, police said.

Other household members rushed to the woman's defense and while trying to help her, Cherchi grabbed another woman and forcibly tried to get her to leave with him.

She eventually broke free but was stabbed multiple times in the process, police said. Her injuries were also non-life-threatening.

A third woman, who also intervened, was stabbed at least three times, according to police. Her injuries were described as serious.

When officers arrived, the women thought Cherchi was still in the house, so they searched the home and around the area but came up short.

Cherchi was later arrested by MBTA Transit Police at South Station later Monday night and was expected in Somerville District Court for arraignment this Tuesday morning, police said.

He faces several charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on person over age 60, kidnapping and witness intimidation.
